Tom Hanks is one of Hollywood's most philanthropic stars. He's donated to dozens of organizations including the American Foundation for AIDS Research and the Pearl Harbor Memorial Fund. Now, Hanks has taken to Twitter to promote his latest cause: reuniting lost items with their New York City owners.

From stray gloves to forgotten shoes, Hanks has been tweeting pictures of the various misplaced items that he finds on the streets of the City. Sometimes he includes the item's location; other times he captions the photo with only a thoughtful comment or joke.
