This great vintage photograph of Madison Square Park shows how it looked back in 1893, much different that it appears today. As our friends at the Washington Square Park Blog pointed out:

The park seems to have retained the ‘bones’ and basic layout of that era. What is obviously missing is the Shake Shack

Among the missing Shake Shack and Dog Run, other notable differences is the missing Flatiron Plaza, perimeter fencing, and benches. This photo appears in the Danny Meyer book titled Setting the Table.
