The Stuff Nightmares Are Made Of: 40,000 Bees Found Under Queens Home

When a Flushing resident had enough of the load, buzzing noise that surrounded their house, the owner made a call to Tony “Bees” Planakis, a retired NYPD detective and long-time beekeeper, to check it out.

Using an infrared camera mounted on a pole, Tony Bees was able to find the honey pot - a colony living under the second-floor bedroom overhang by the home's backyard deck.

The colony included 40,000 bees. Luckily for the bees, the Queen was located and captured so the entire hive can still survive and thrive in a more appropriate place upstate.
