Untapped Cities recently published a great article revealing the history of the beloved Alice in Wonderland Sculpture in Central Park, and how it originated from Robert Moses and the Modern Art Foundry in Long Island City.

Today, it’s become a beloved fixture of the park, but the sculpture’s origins can be traced back to Long Island City’s Modern Art Foundry, where it was cast. Located in the former carriage house of the famous Steinway Mansion, this mecca for sculptors is where artistic visions become realized in metal.
