Walk Through All of Manhattan's Museum Mile Festival in This 34-Minute Video

The Museum Mile Festival is an annual event in which the Upper East Side section of 5th Avenue from 82nd through 105th Street — aka Museum Mile — is closed off to cars for a block party that celebrates the various museums along the stretch.

One day a year, for the past 38 years, seven of the country’s finest museums —all ones that call Fifth Avenue home— collectively open their doors from 6pm – 9pm for free to New Yorkers and visitors for a mile-long block party and visual art celebration.

In this recent video from local YouTuber actionkid105, take a walk up 5th Avenue during this year's festival, from The Met all the way to El Museu Del Barrio.

I walk Manhattan's 5th Avenue from the Metropolitan Museum of Art to El Museo Del Barrio during the Museum Mile Festival 2018. This route passes Neue Galerie, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts, Smithsonian Copper-Hewitt National Design Museum, The Jewish Museum, Museum of the City of New York, El Museo del Barrio, the Frick Collection, and elaborate residences.

Tourist in Your Own Town Explores the Staten Island Museum at Snug Harbor

The New York Landmarks Conservancy's excellent Tourist in Your Own Town series explores some of New York City’s best hidden gems as well as some of its classic iconic landmarks. In this recent episode from the series, watch as host Peg Breen takes a look at the Staten Island Museum at Snug Harbor.

This 83-acre campus was once a home for retired seaman. It now houses several cultural institutions in Landmark Greek Revival buildings. The Museum dates from 1881, when a group of naturalists combined their collections to record the island's plants and animals; it has since evolved adding art and history to its mission.
