The enormous skyscrapers in Lower and Midtown Manhattan are partly made possible due to the strong, dense bedrock found underneath the areas. In this vintage photograph from 1932, see the under-construction Rockefeller Center, and the massive bedrock foundation underneath it.

Here's One of the First Photos From the Under-Construction Observation Deck at 10 Hudson Yards

While not the best quality photo ever taken, this photograph shows what the view looking East will be like from the 100th floor observation deck of the under-construction 10 Hudson Yards skyscraper. It shows a new and unique angle of Madison Square Garden and the Empire State Building from above the new Midtown West neighborhood. Having a recent appointment in the building, Redditor user paddy1709 took the most of the opportunity and snapped the photo months before the deck opens to the general public.
