And the "Winner" of New York City's Slowest Bus Line Goes to...

The NYPIRG Straphangers Campaign is about to release their 2019 Pokey Awards, which recognizes the stellar bus routes that make each of its riders so late that they regret ever stepping on board. Truthfully, nobody is a winner here, but the mock-awards do draw attention to the problem, which hopefully will cause the MTA to listen up and address some of the issues surrounding the slowest lines in the transit system.

Several New York City bus lines have received dubious honors.

[VIDEO] Here's What 1/2/3 Train Riders Need to Know About the 96 St Switch Replacement

We're completely replacing the switches at 96 St between the uptown local and express tracks. This intense work requires us to completely remove the switches and surrounding track, pour new concrete, and install new track along with the new switches. We need uninterrupted access to both tracks and track bed for the work to be done safely and quickly. Once replaced, the new, modern switches will help us run more reliable service.

The work requires significant services changes on weekends from July 20 - August 12, and a full suspension of service at 1, 2, and 3 stations between Harlem and Downtown Brooklyn for two weekends: August 17-19 and August 25-26.
