"Off The Rails" Documentary Screenings and Release Dates Announced

As mentioned earlier this week, Off the Rails is a new documentary from New York City-based filmmakers Journeyman Pictures that tells the story of an autistic man who has been arrested over 32 times for impersonating and hijacking MTA trains and buses.

Darius McCollum has a love of transport that has led to him being jailed 32 times, spending 23 years in prison, despite never harming any person or property. Suffering from Asperger’s syndrome, over 3 decades Darius has commandeered New York buses and subway trains – only to correctly drive their routes and announce the stops. A remarkable story of society's failure to channel the harmless passions of a mentally challenged man into a productive life.

The filmmakers have announced a New York Premiere this week, and a theater opening next.

  • Premiere: Saturday, November 12th at 9:30pm, SVA Theatre
  • Opening: November 18th at The Metrograph

After December 8th, you can stream the documentary through Sundance Now if you can't make it out to the theater.
