NYPD is Bringing Neighborhood Policing Underground to the Subway

Nearly three years after its successful launch in patrol precincts, Neighborhood Policing is coming to the New York City transit system. It will now be easier than ever for subway riders and transit cops to ensure the safety of the country’s busiest metro system.

“By expanding Neighborhood Policing into Transit, we’re going to continue to reduce crime, solve problems specific to these areas, and build better relationships with the nearly six million riders who use the system each weekday,” said Police Commissioner James P. O’Neill.
