A woman plunged six feet underground when the sidewalk collapsed beneath her in Washington Heights Saturday, seriously injuring her. The victim was walking in front of an apartment building on W. 158th St. near Broadway when the sidewalk suddenly crumbled away about 7:40 a.m. Medics rushed the woman to Harlem Hospital with a broken leg and other serious injuries, officials said. City officials have been sent in to determine what caused the collapse.
