New York City Parks Department Celebrates 50 Years of Art in the Parks

For the past five decades, the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation has placed thousands of large, publicly accessible sculptures and art in parks across all Boroughs.

This year, NYC Parks is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its Art in the Parks program. Since its creation in 1967, Art in the Parks has displayed more than 2,000 works of outdoor public art across New York City. We’re celebrating this historic program throughout the month of October.

To celebrate 50 years of art in the parks, the Parks Department is throwing a big bash in Central Park on October 21st, 2017 that will include a stage, museum, art studio, interactive workshops and more for a day of free public art. Check out the event page to learn more about the celebration.
