Mad Men Creator Matthew Weiner Explains the Coke Commercial at a NYPL Live Event

If you haven’t watched the series finale of AMC’s Mad Men, this video and post contains a mild spoiler so you may want to quit reading…

In the ambiguous final scene of Mad Men, a 1971 Coca Cola commercial was aired in it’s entirety.

While this video from a recent Live From the NYPL event doesn’t really explain what happened in the final episode, show creator Matthew Weiner explains a bit about how and why he chose that specific ad for the finale, and what it means to both him and a generation of advertisement viewers.
