Looking Down on New York City With Photographer and Urban Explorer "Flashing Lights"

Urban Explorer, photographer, and Instagrammer flashing.lights has been exploring the City for most of his life, always finding new vantage points to capture amazing photographs of the City from above.

Avid readers of Viewing NYC might recognize some of these photos as we have shared a couple in the past, but the popular Instagrammer uploaded a great collection of his favorite aerial shots and we had to share them with you.

For years I have looked up at the beautiful buildings of the city and I had a strong desire to see the views the buildings held. Over the past year I embarked on a mission to take pictures from some of the rarest, priciest, and stunning views of New York City. These photos were a result of countless hours of networking with building managers, tenants, residents, and anyone else who could help me see the unseen. All shots were taken legally.

This was shot from one of the top floors of 4 World Trade Center. The view overlooks NY by Gehry and the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges.

The 9/11 memorial is one of the most powerful monuments in the city. The two squares were the foundations of the twin towers and they are a must see in person.

A storm is brewing over the financial district.

Here is the recently completed One World Trade Center. In my opinion one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. The observation deck opened up last spring which provides stunning views of lower Manhattan.

Columbus circle is a mecca for culture in New York City. It lies at the intersection of central park, huge midtown office buildings, and Lincoln Center. It also makes for some great photographs.

This is the skinny side of the Empire State Building, the most recognizable building in NYC.

This photo was taken in a dramatic storm over Times Square.
