Is The Subway Really The Fastest Way To Get Around the New York City?

Our (unaffiliated) friends over at Visualizing NYC recently published a fascinating article that takes a look at travel times around the city. Most of us are subway snobs and will stick to that method of commuting while avoiding all others, but in most trips over a few miles, your travel time can be drastically reduced by exploring subway/bus or subway/bus/train commutes. The article also includes a sweet interactive map that has you drop a pin at your home or office, then calculates the fastest methods you can take to any spot in the city.
