Recently Brandon posted a photo and story of Vidal, a teenage student in a Brownsville, Brooklyn, as well as profiles of several people in the schools administration, including Mrs. Lopez, the principal.

A few days later, this post went up on the Facebook page asking for help fundraising to send Brownsville student for a visit to see Ivy League schools including Harvard. The school set a relatively modest goal of $100,000, enough to send the kids on the trip for the next 3 school years. Since January 22nd, the IndieGogo campaign has brought in am impressive amount, just under $1,000,000 at the time of this writing.

BBC Trending interviewed Vidal and Mrs. Lopex about the campaign’s wild success.
