The Magna Carta is one of the most important historical documents that exist, and you get the chance to view an 800-year-old copy this week here in the City.
The watershed document remains an enduring symbol of liberty. It granted protection against tyrannical rule, defended civil liberties, and was a central source of inspiration for future constitutional documents, including the U.S. Constitution.
The New York Historical Society will be showing the rare copy of document from 1217 for one week only, from September 23rd through September 30th
