Here's a Look at the New NYC Subway Maps Showing the Resurrected W Line

This November 2016 MTA New York City subway map has a new addition that is being resurrected after several decades of not being used: the W line servicing Manhattan and Queens.

Taken on 10.15.16 at 2nd Avenue (F) station. The key changes to note are:

  • The (N) only runs local on Broadway on the weekends and late nights, express in Manhattan from Canal Street to 34th Street-Herald Square on the weekdays
  • 57th Street-7th Avenue is acting as an interim terminal for the (Q)
  • Late night (R) service is being extended to Whitehall Street-South Ferry
  • Restoration of the (W) as a weekdays Broadway local to/from Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard to Whitehall Street-South Ferry

These changes are improvement in anticipation of the completion of the Second Avenue Subway, originally slated for the end of this year, but now delayed (again) for an unspecified number of months.
