The garden at Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park is in bloom for the first time ever. According to park officials, asters and goldenrods started blooming about a week ago and will continue through October, when they'll hit their peak. According to park director of horticulture Rebecca McMackin:

There’s a very choreographed reveal of all of the flowers as they bloom and this is just starting the riot. The whole place is just an explosion of purple and yellow.

Visitors will be able to take a guided tour of the half-acre flower garden, covering the diverse wildlife and enjoying the scenery. The park’s next educational tour, Bugs of Pier 6 will take place Aug. 31 at 6:30 p.m with tickets starting at $10. Be sure to check it out for yourself.
