If you thought sword fighting wasn't exciting enough, try it on the roof. In this vintage photograph from 1929, the New York University fencing team practices on the rooftop. Especially brave are the four duelists on the edge, beyond the railing.

The Judson Church tower and construction of the apartment on Washington Square West/Macdougal Street can also be seen in the backdrop. Check out the NYU archives for more neat university related vintage photographs.
