Check Out This Rare Super High Definition Footage of New York City From 1993

This vintage film from 1993 doesn't quite feel vintage at all. Usually we associate older film with grainy video and audio quality, but this 23 year old footage is anything but. Right when 1080p60fps video was starting to emerge, long before it was affordable for household television, this film was put together as a sample.

In 2002 D-Theater D-VHS launched in the US - the dealers needed a demo tape of HD footage. JVC reused some HD video that had been shot as a demo for the Japanese HD market back in 1993. You can tell it's 1993 by the adverts in Times Square - the Radio 501 CD that's advertised on a billboard came out in 1993 and Paper Moon is playing at the Marquis Theater.
