Cabalito Brings Authentic El Salvadorian Cuisine to the Lower East Side

Cabalito is known for offering traditional El Salvadorian dishes, specializing in pupusas, a thick, handmade tortilla filled with yummy goodies such as meat, cheese and beans.

Pupusas, fried pockets of corn masa stuffed with different fillings, are the Salvadoran stars at this Lower East Side storefront. Dished up with cabbage salad and salsa, the inexpensive items are served in a modern, compact space with just a few tables and a view out to Essex Street.

In this video from Zagat, editor Kelly Dobkin heads down to the LES to see what it's all about.
