Brooklyn Bridge Park's Pier 5 Uplands Green Space Now Open to Public

Brooklyn Bridge Park's Pier 5 Uplands green space just opened to the public and adds a large area of grass, trees, bushes, and paths to the park. Prior to its conversion, the on-shore area of pier 5 was the last remaining undeveloped section of the park.

Peaceful lounging space in Brooklyn Bridge Park just increased with the unveiling on Thursday of the Pier 5 Uplands, bringing 3.4 more acres of public space to the park. The green space, located just east of the Picnic Peninsula, is designed to be a restful oasis — with lawns for lounging, views to ogle, meandering walkways to stroll and scattered seating areas on which to perch. With its opening, the park inches ever closer to completion.

In these photos from our friends at Brownstoner, take a peek at the green space on opening day, then check out the accompanying article for more info.
