AMC | The Empire Theatre was designed by architect Thomas W. Lamb and opened in 1912 as the Eltinge 42nd Street Theater. Here's a historic view:

It was converted into a movie theater in 1942 and renamed the Laff and then was renamed the Empire in 1954 and finally closed in the 1980s. It reemerged as a 25-screen megaplex run by AMC which opened in 2001. Interesting the entire theater was moved 200 feet to allow for the construction of the new AMC movie theaters.
