Looking north from 43rd street, a huge crowd gathers around a Christmas tree to welcome in 1938.

Happy New Year! Times Square was just as packed last night as it was on December 31st, 1937. It does look a little cold, there doesn’t appear to be any entertainment, and they are oddly congregating around the Christmas tree, but it still seems preferable to watching Ryan Seacrest and Jenny McCarthy
