Fans of jazz, blues, and funk rejoice! The City is warmly welcoming a bit of New Orleans to spend a day on Governors Island for the 2nd annual Crawfish & Music Festival hosted by Nolafunk and CEG Presents.

Nolafunk has put together a lineup of musicians filled with genuine New Orleans spirit, and “the funkiest all-star tribute in show business,” aka The James Brown Dance Party, is headlining. If that’s not enough incentive to check out the festival, Shaggy the “Nola Crawfish King” will be boiling over 5,000 lbs of crawfish.

CEG founder Howie Schnee said:

Last year we wanted to deliver a large-scale experience for people who love New Orleans, its music, its food, and its open-minded attitude. […] Our advance sellout of 3,500 tickets showed us that New Orleans music and culture is alive and well in New York City. While there are lots of concerts during the year in New York City featuring New Orleans musicians, there has been nothing quite on this scale combining the music, food, and spirit of New Orleans.

Snack on various Cajun foods, sip on a craft beer, and enjoy the style of New Orleans with just a ferry ride hop to Governors Island. The festival will take place June 20th at 4:30pm at the Governor's Beach Club.

Check out the event page for tickets or more information.
