Imagine a building that looks like a regular one on the outside but is actually all fake? Turns out New York City is full of those. At 58 Joralemon Street, there is a building that was meant to be a regular one, but in 1908, they converted it into a fake building. It’s part of a ventilation fan for the subway and also serves as an emergency exit for some of the surrounding buildings. All the way to 415 Bruckner Boulevard, the Bronx, this townhouse also serves a similar purpose – to hide an electric substation for New York’s utility company.
