Local musician and filmmaker David Hoffman has been shooting video around the City for decades.
In this video recently uploaded to YouTube, Hoffman conducts a "Man on the Street" interview with several different 1979 commuters, asking their opinion on hot topics such as "bureaucracy" and "computers."
I found this collection of “outtakes” in my archive. I shot these interviews on the streets of New York in the late 70s when I was doing a documentary on the coming of the information age. As I look at it, it shows me that in a way, nothing has changed, and in a way, so much has changed. Notice that most people had never been filmed before. With the coming of cell phone video, very few can say that today.
