
This great vintage photograph from around 1935 shows Blossom Restaurant and a barber shop displaying pricing on their windows, allowing us to see exactly how much things cost in the City over 8 decades ago. Redditor governator_ahnold points out:
That’s crazy because the pork chops, which are $0.30, adjusted for inflation, would only be $5.69 today. That meal would be like $25 in NYC right now. Same with the haircut. Even a very cheap haircut is $20-30.
