Brooklyn-born singer/songwriter Neil Diamond got his start in the 1960s by writing songs and playing them for other musicians and record labels on Tin Pan Alley on W. 28th St.

By the time this vintage photograph was captured on the Times Square subway platform around 1976, Diamond was an international superstar, selling out stadiums with #1 hits such as the classic Sweet Caroline.
