New York’s longest bridge was closed to cars amid heavy winds and rain on Monday. MTA bridge officials instituted the full closure of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge at 2:30 p.m., an MTA spokesman said. The shutdown came many hours after officials closed the bridge’s upper level because of “high wind conditions,” according to official posts on Twitter.
