The annual end-of-summer New York City urban family camping is a cool event where park rangers will let you into City parks after dark to have a legitimate camping experience, tent and all. This year's camp-out will take place on Saturday, August 19th in Central Park in Manhattan, Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx, and Fort Totten Park in Queens.
We camp to create lasting memories, connect with the natural world, and bond with our families. Camping affords us the opportunity to unplug from the diversions of everyday life and to laugh and play with our families. The Urban Park Rangers celebrate the tradition of camping and we look forward to welcoming your family.
Past camp-outs have been so popular and despite the size of the park, space is extremely limited, so there is a lottery system to choose the lucky participants who get to sleep overnight. Not many New Yorkers have a chance to camp out under the stars in the middle of the City, so head to the lottery page to enter and try your luck!
