The genius data analysts at Crimson Hexagon recently took a bunch of Instagram data to create an interactive map and timeline of New York City's eating and drinking habits. As time goes by on the 24-hour map, an emoji blip will show a food order, check-in, drink, or restaurant visit at the location it happened.

To illustrate the true scale of #foodstagrasm, we've created an interactive data visualization using an Instagram insights platform to explore the most popular food-related hashtags on the social network. This data has been used to build a live map showing New York City’s eating and drinking habits over the course of 24 hours.

Check out the full interactive map to play around with the data.

Is the $2,000 Gold-Topped Pizza at Manhattan's Industry Kitchen Really Pizza?

Industry Kitchen is a New-American restaurant near South Street Seaport that offers up inventive pizzas from a wood-fired oven alongside other modern dishes and craft cocktails. One of their offerings is a $2,000 pizza topped with caviar, foie gras, truffles and gold flakes.

But is it really pizza? In this video from our friends at Thrillist, watch as local pizza expert Scott Weiner from Scott's Pizza Tours explores the question.

The 24K Pizza from Industry Kitchen is topped with a decadent combination of gold, caviar, foie gras, and more gold. It might have put him back $2,000, but after eating it, Scott is confident that the sauce-dough-cheese anatomy will convince Mark that it’s a definitely a pizza. But is it “Really, Dough?!” Follow Scott and the 24K Pizza back to Lucali to see how Mark, the pizza purist, enjoys the luxury of this golden pie.
