Created in the 1920s, this incredible vintage film gives a tour of New York City buildings, streets, neighborhoods, hotspots, and attractions all throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. As a silent film, there are written descriptions of what you are seeing every few seconds. The film was found and uploaded to YouTube by Dutch historian, photographer, and videographer Michael Rogge. Since 2015, we’ve seen One World Trade Center, One Vanderbilt, and 30 Hudson Yards all open with an observation deck plonked on top. But it's not just NYC, the trend has gone global. Why?
