The NYC Compost Project works to rebuild our city’s soil by providing New Yorkers with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to make and use compost locally. NYC Compost Project programs are carried out by DSNY-funded staff hosted by seven partner organizations, including Big Reuse, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Earth Matter NY, the Lower East Side Ecology Center, Queens Botanical Garden, Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden, and the New York Botanical Garden.

Much like the controversy behind the oldest bar in New York City, there are three establishments which each claim to be the oldest on Staten Island.
