NYC Sanitation Trucks Get Makeover For Colorful 'Trucks Of Art' Project

For the first time ever, we're transforming our collection vehicles into artists' canvases in our Trucks of Art project. We're looking for art that encourages New Yorkers to recycle ― or honors New York's Strongest for keeping our City healthy, safe and clean! Trucks of Art is a zero-waste challenge: Artists will be using paints "rescued" from landfills or recycling.

Check out the New York City Department of Sanitation's program page to learn more about 'Trucks of Art'.

Here's What Manhattanhenge Madness Was Like at 42nd Street in Times Square

Manhattanhenge is the term coined by astrophysicist Neil DeGrass Tyson describing the unique local event in which the sun sets twice a year perfectly aligned with the Manhattan grid. This phenomenon allows for some pretty incredible photos in which the setting sun is framed by the surrounding skyscrapers, and as such, brings out the Instagrammers and photographers in droves. In this video from local YouTuber ActionKid, catch a glimpse of the madness as it was Saturday on 42nd Street in Times Square.

I exit a (2) train at the Times Square-42nd Street subway station and make my way to observe the Manhattanhenge Sunset on 42nd Street.
