What could a beer recipe tell us about the personality of George Washington, largely beloved Founding Father of the United States? A lot, as it turns out. Joined by Thomas Lannon, assistant director of Manuscripts, Archives, and Rare Books at the New York Public Library, we examine Washington’s recipe for small beer that’s been tucked away in the back of his journal from 1757. (Spoiler: The beer is in no way delicious. At all.)
