A massive, colorful mural by Swedish street artist Ola Kalnins went up earlier this year on the busy Greenpoint intersection of Greenpoint and Manhattan Avenue in Brooklyn. By now you’ve surely noticed the 4-story mural on the building on the corner of Greenpoint and Manhattan Avenue. Completed in late October, painted by Swedish artist Ola Kalnins, the mural covers the entire building facade at 903 Manhattan Ave, which is owned by Peter Kirchhausen. In a neighborhood that seems to be more and more inundated with advertising (hand-painted or otherwise), it’s damn refreshing to see some art for arts sake.

Neighborhood Golf Association is a new short documentary film from one of our favorite New York City filmmakers Nico Heller a.k.a. New York Nico (previously) that follows local legend Tiger Hood as he golfs using empty milk cartons on the streets of Greenwich Village. Check it out!

For the past 10 years, street photographer Patrick Barr aka Tiger Hood has become a local legend known for bringing golf to the streets of NYC. It’s a game that requires only three items: a golf club, a newspaper-stuffed milk carton, and a crate. What was initially just a way for Barr to pass time has gained traction from major news outlets and celebrities on a global scale. However, street golf seems to overshadow his true passion… photography. Barr’s archive consists of thousands of mind blowing film photographs of NYC from the 1990’s to 2000’s. His goal was to preserve a time and place that he predicted would dissolve in the coming years. With his archive as evidence, he predicted correctly.

In collaboration with NOAH Clothing, Barr will be celebrated through a local screening of the documentary on March 2nd, 2019 at Project Farmhouse along with a display of his prints for purchase. RSVP here.
