New York based photographer Erica Simone has made a name for herself photographing celebrities and fashion around the world. Now she has a new photo book almost ready for production which features the photographer in nude self-portraits all around New York City. The photo book, aptly titled Nue York: Self-Portraits of a Bare Urban Citizen is currently raising money for self publishing, with all contributions going to the costs associated with printing a book.
Nue York: Self-Portraits of a Bare Urban Citizen bloomed from an initial questioning about clothing and the importance of fashion in modern society. What we wear acts as a silent language allowing us to portray who we are or want to be, suggesting to the outer world an impression on us—whatever that may be. Fashion tends to segregate us as well as adapt us into various social categories, also helping us communicate our moods. This tool of expression is quite precious to civil society and as most people, I organically use clothing as a way of portraying my own image.
At the time of this writing, the campaign has raised about $4k of the $10 goal with 2 months left. Contributions get you many levels of perks, depending on the size.
The music featured in the video is Sterling Fox — "Freak Caroline".
