Gypsy Joe Hocking used to struggle to get by like most musicians do. One day, while riding the D train, he took out his guitar and just started jamming out of frustration and boredom. When he made $20 from 6 people in 15 minutes, he realized that he could do this every day and make a living goofing off on the guitar. For the past 7 years, Gypsy Joe has been busking daily in the subway, earning about $45k a year in cash.
