Meet Conrad Milster, the 79-Year-Old Engineer That Keeps Pratt Institute Running

New York City based portrait photographer and director Dustin Cohen recently created this fantastic profile of 79-year-old Conrad Milster, the Chief Engineer at the Pratt Institute in Clinton Hill.

Milster's story is interesting as he has been keeping the nineteenth century steam engines that provide heat and hot water to the entire campus running for the past six decades.

“We have our hands full,” says Milster. “If the plant stops in the winter, Pratt stops.” In addition, Conrad is the person behind the infamous “Pratt Cats,” responsible for the 12-14 felines that wander the campus and call the steam plant home.
