Real estate and living culture website RentCafé recently crunched some numbers and found that Manhattanites are the most likely to be in debt over the winter holiday season, accumulating a credit card balance of over $4,300 on average.
We looked at household incomes, the average cost of living, holiday spending estimates, and rents for November and December in the 50 most populous U.S. cities. Based on our calculations, renters in only 24 cities will end the year with a positive balance, while the other 26 will close the year with hefty debts. […] Manhattan renters will probably charge their credit cards with $4,394 by the end of the year, followed by Boston and San Francisco renters, who will also close the year with a negative balance.
