Blue York is the name of an initiative from the Wildlife Conservation Society and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution which is placing acoustic buoys off the coast of New York City in order to detect and learn from rare whale species in the area.

With our partners at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, we've launched a buoy (which you helped us nickname, Melville) to listen in and learn about the whales right under our noses. You can get the latest data from our two buoys, the first buoy (SE, same location as Melville) and another buoy to the NW.

Check out the project page to learn more about Blue York.
