Inwood’s Swindler Cove is Home to a Hidden Strip of Sandy Beach

Swindler's Cove is a recently renovated section of Sherman Creek Park in Inwood that used to be an illegal dumping wasteland. Thanks to efforts by the New York Restoration Project back in 2003, the area is clean, healthy and vibrant with natural life.

Oh yeah, did we mention it also has a hidden sandy beach?

It’s pretty rare to find a nice sandy beach, particularly in Manhattan. In Swindler’s Cove in Inwood, a waterfront area typically bound by hard, concrete edges, there is one spot where you can put your bare feet into the sand and listen to the gentle lapping of waves.
