Help Bring Back New York City Local Blog "Gothamist" With This Kickstarter Campaign

When local New York City blog Gothamist was shut down last year after billionaire owner Joe Ricketts disagreed with their journalists' unionization vote, the City lost a great resource for local news. However, in the time since, local public radio station WNYC and other partners have purchased Gothamist back from Ricketts, and are now gearing up for a relaunch! However, like all things publicly funded, there is not quite enough money to keep things moving as quickly as everybody would like, so the Gothamist has setup a crowdfunding campaign to help them "Bring Back Gothamist" faster.

All funds raised with this Kickstarter will go to funding Gothamist. The first $100,000 will help revive the website and bring back our popular newsletter. It will also enable us to preserve the Gothamist and DNAinfo archives. But this is just the beginning. The more we raise, the better we can serve you.

Since WNYC is a non-profit organization, all donations to the campaign are tax deductible. We at Viewing NYC have shared many of Gothamist articles and videos over the years, thus we have contributed to the campaign, and we hope you will too.
