Hearty Start is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in New York City that provides a unique service that helps both the homeless, and the struggling mom-and-pop bodegas in the City. The organization provides breakfast sandwiches from local bodegas to homeless New Yorkers every morning, using funds you have donated on a monthly subscription basis.
You can donate as low as one $3 sandwich a year, up to dozens of sandwiches per week, and you get to choose Egg and Cheese, the classic Bacon, Egg and Cheese, or the blasphemous Sausage, Egg and Cheese. You get the satisfaction of knowing you are helping to alleviate hunger within the homeless community, and support local bodegas which are constantly threatened by rising rents. Win-win for a few bucks a month.
