New Button On MetroCard Machines Lets You Buy Rides With No Change Leftover

Following Sunday's fare hike, the MTA has actually done something good for us with a surprising addition to the Metrocard vending machines.

beginning last Sunday, the MetroCard machines’ default values are nice round numbers – $9, $19 and $39 – plus bonuses. But there’s one that stands out – $27.25 (plus $3 bonus). That lands you exactly 11 rides

The button does not specify that it works out to be an exact number of rides so the new button will most likely affect only locals in the know, with tourists still left holding extra change on their Metrocards.
