East Village's Maharlika Show How To East Balut, A Hard Boiled Egg with a Duck Fetus Inside

Maharlika is a restaurant serving modern Filipino cuisine in New York City since 2011. Not all of the items they serve are modern though... One of the more bizarre dishes they serve is balut, a traditional South-East Asian street food.

It's called balut, and it's basically a hard boiled egg with a partially formed duck fetus inside.

In this video made by Business Insider, Maharlika owner Nicole Ponseca shows us how to properly eat balut, then BI takes some back to the offices to get co-workers to try it out. Maharlika is located on 111 First Ave. in Manhattan's East Village.
