The Wyckoff House | Built around 1652, the original portion of <a href="http://www.nycgovparks.org/parks/fidlerwyckoffpark/history" rel="nofollow">this house</a> is thought to be the oldest surviving structure in New York City. The Wyckoff House (or &quot;that place <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?q=brooklyn&amp;ll=40.64457,-73.920967&amp;spn=0.00177,0.002411&amp;hnear=Brooklyn,+Kings,+New+York&amp;gl=us&amp;t=h&amp;deg=180&amp;z=19" rel="nofollow">by the McDonald's</a>&quot;, as someone in the neighborhood later described it to me) was the first landmark designated by the city's Landmarks Preservation Commission, and it now serves as a museum; you can get a good look around the place by watching the video at the bottom of <a href="http://www.historichousetrust.org/item.php?i_id=14" rel="nofollow">this page</a>.
