Here is an amazing shot taken by balloon from the Southern tip of Manhattan facing North over the Financial District. The built-up area in the top of the photograph is Wall Street, and the circular park on the left is Bowling Green. The bell shaped park in the lower right is Jeannette Park, named after the sunken USS Jeannette ship in 1886, later becoming the Vietnam Veterans Plaza in 1985.
Obviously, much of this area has changed completely over the past century since this photograph was taken, most notably, the removal of most of the docks, the addition of the FDR freeway, and the building of dozens of skyscrapers. For comparison, here is an overhead view of how it looks today.
