this great vintage photograph shows a New York City street scene the day after the blizzard of 1899. According to some analysis done by a resourceful sleuther, the photograph was snapped on Broadway looking south, just north of West 34th Street, in front of where the Macy's store stands now. The old 6th Avenue El is a prominent feature of the photograph, as are the men shoveling snow onto the streets. Here is a Google Street View of approximately the same perspective today, though unfortunately nothing looks the same.
